Coloring Hair and using a Lace Closure

So ladies, I know alot of women who feel they want to color hair themselves. I personally do not advise this, but if you must... here are a few coloring tips I found on my favorite hair coloring website. Here are some things you should know as a beginner.  We have all seen some of our fave ladies rocking beautiful color.  I suggest trying color with your weave and a closure. This is the safest method if you aren't ready to dye your own hair yet :)

HAIR COLOR PRODUCT FORMS

There are multiple product forms of hair color, so it’s important to understand what product form is right for you.

Crème/Liquid: This formula of hair color uses an applicator tool to help provide precise color for either a root touch-up application or all-over coloring coverage. Crème hair color is generally a little thicker in consistency than liquid color, so while both forms can be applied with a precision tip applicator bottle, crème colorants can also be applied using a brush and bowl. Using a crème hair color with a brush is often preferred for targeted hair color applications—like covering up roots or the part line, but either type of hair color productcan be used.

Foam: Foam hair color is simple to use. It’s no drip, so no mess, and especially handy for hard-to-reach areas or long, thick hair when you’re applying all-over color. Just apply the foam hair color in a shampoo-like motion and cover hair completely for lasting results.

HAIR COLOR PERMANENCY TYPES

Choose your hair color type based on your desired results and how long you want your color to last. Different hair color types can give you different outcomes.

Permanent Hair Color: If you want to cover grays, lighten your hair or make a more dramatic change,permanent hair color is most likely the best option for you. You can also make a subtle change with permanent color, but it will change the natural pigment of your hair and lasts longer than semi-permanent color. Also keep in mind that as your hair grows out, you’ll need to dye your roots to match the rest of your hair.

Semi-Permanent Hair Color: When deciding to use semi-permanent hair color vs. permanent hair color, think about your desired result. Is it to blend away the first signs of gray or to enhance your natural hair color? If so, semi-permanent hair color may be the best choice. Another benefit of semi-permanent color is that it deposits color without lightening and does not change your natural color pigment.

Demi-Permanent Hair Color: To richly enhance your natural color or if you are coloring your hair for the first time, try a demi-permanent hair color (lasts through 28 shampoos) close to your natural hair color. Demi shades can give the color that is already on existing growth the subtle enhancement that you’re looking for, without “overloading” color on top of color.
